Feile Duthalla 2010 - T-Shirts

 There has been an increasing number of enquiries regarding the Feile Duthalla t-shirts which were most popular during the 2008 festival.  

As you are aware we have the same logo this year but with a different background and we are hoping to get some t-shirts made for this years feile.  The t-shirts will most likely be white with the logo  (about 4 inch diameter or so) on the left side breast.

The Pilgrimage to Blarney - Sixth Session in Current Series Travels to Muskerry for an evening of Music, Song and Dance

 Féile Dúthalla 2010 wishes to announce that the sixth session in this years Talks/Music Series will be held in the KIllowen Room/Johnny’s Bar of The Blarney Castle Hotel on tuesday, July 13th at 21.00.  The evening is titled The Pilgrimage to Blarney and is a celebration of the rich traditional music culture of the Duhallow area and will feature a number of traditional musicians, singers and dancers from the area with special guests.  The event is entirely free of charge to the general public and a bus is being provided for the event.

Hanna's House, the feminist all-Ireland peace building organisation invites you to its first Summer School, on August 27, 28, 29 in the University of Ulster, Belfast Campus, York Road.

Angus Mitchell Talk on Roger Casement, Hanna Sheehy Skeffington & Revolutionary Ireland, Trades Union Hall, Kanturk, Wednesday, June 16th 2010

 The Trades Union Hall Kanturk recently refurbished by the Kanturk Community Council and painted and decorated by the celebrated Boston based Kanturk artist Vincent Crotty played host to this wonderful talk by Dr. Angus Mitchell, a recognised expert on Roger Casement on wednesday, June 16th.  The schedule talk - Ballydesmond - England's Last Plantation was deferred and Angus Mitchell travelled from Limerick to deliver his talk.

Féile Déthalla 2010 Talks/Music Series continues on wednesday, June 16th at 20.30 at the intimate and beautifully restored Trades Union Hall in Strand Street Kanturk.The talk is titled Roger Casement, Hanna Sheehy Skeffington & Revolutionary Ireland and the speaker is 

Dr. Margaret Ward's talk on the life of Hanna Sheehy Skeffington invigorates Kanturk Town Park Audience

 Brilliant sunshine and gentle river eddies dancing on the magical river Dallua coupled with the rich odour of freshly cut grass, the humming of bees and enchanting  birdsong all added greatly to the ambience and vibrancy of Margaret Wards talk  on Hanna Sheehy Skeffington, a native of the Duhallow capital,  on saturday May 22nd in the picturesque Kanturk Town Park  appropriately in close proximity to where Hanna Sheehy once lived .

Brehon Law Talk with Patricia Herron breaks series record

The Brehon Laws of Ireland, a talk given by Patricia Herron of the University of Limerick at Bob's Upstairs Bar on wednesday April 14th was very well attended with the sizeable audience of 42 people enjoying a very well delivered and interesting talk.  The crowd was the largest to date in the current series and clearly shows that interest in the talks series is growing.

Cork County Council & IRD - Duhallow Womens Forum Confirm Grant Aid for Feile Duthalla 2010

 Feile Duthalla 2010 received good news in the past few weeks with both Cork County Council Arts Office and IRD Duhallow -Womens Forum Group both confirming that they are going to give some financial assistance to the Feile.

Arts Officer of Cork County Council, Ian McDonagh confirmed that Feile is to receive €1,000 under their current round of funding for festivals.  Feile members Tim Browne, Adrian Kissane and Patrick CAsey attended the official announcement ceremony of the Council Grants Awards at County Hall on Monday, March 22nd.

The Duhallow Womens Forum and IRD Duhallow via Helen O'Sullivan have confirmed that they will jointly fund the Dr. Margaret Ward - Hanna Sheehy Skeffington Talk in Kanturk Town Park on May 22nd.  This is very welcome news and Feile is delighted that the Womens Forum has come onboard for this very worthwhile event.  The talk will take place in proximity to the wonderful statue erected by the Womens Forum to the memory of Hanna Sheehy Skeffington in the picturesque town park.  Should the day prove nasty weather-wise then we will hold the event indoors at  Bob's Upstairs Bar in Percival Street, Kanturk  This event celebrates the role of women in society in general but particularily the women of Duhallow and the talk will be followed by a session of traditional music fronted by Freemount native the Cork city based fiddle player Lisa O'Sullivan and friends.  We are also hoping to have some food and refreshments at the event and its entirely free of charge and open to the public.  Ta cead mile failte de gach aon duine agus bigi ann.........
